Artist Statement

In 2009 we made our first feature comedy Off the Cuff about the behind the scenes of the Chicago comedy community. We discovered that film can translate both power and powerlessness by slowing the moment. This encourages the audience to both laugh but also hold a mirror to the competitive culture we live in.
After our first film we created our second feature mockumentary Welcome to Gentle Waters, a comedy about a rehab center in the Midwest. We explored the idea of perfection and themes of good and evil. Welcome to Gentle Waters was named a semi finalist of the Feelgood Film Festival of Hollywood and played at the Lake County Film Festival.
We have recently produced and directed the web series Through the Mirror which explores a behind the scenes look at the jamband Lotus. Our first music video Golden Ghost (Lotus) screened at the Chicago Seen and Heard Music Video Showcase 2011.
Our work explores the relationship between boundaried and repetitive practice and life as performance.
With influences as diverse as Dziga Vertov and Christopher Guest, new insights are synthesized from both explicit and implicit layers.
As spatial forms become clarified through diligent and diverse practice, the viewer is left with an insight into the inaccuracies of our culture but more importantly a glimpse of the future.
